Our round mats are almost here!

Here is a little update from me, Gemma. I’m the British ex-pat mum who founded Hyggi here in Denmark (which is why this post is in English to get the news out asap). I live north of Copenhagen with my Danish husband, two boys - Oliver and Hugo, and our dog Luna. I founded Hyggi as I wanted something aesthetically pleasing and more comfortable to play on the floor with my children, so set to work creating a new brand of memory foam playmats designed to live in the heart of the home for the whole family to enjoy.

We’ve come a long way since our launch in August last year, and this May has been the busiest month yet. At the start of this month we finally launched our new online store in Norway. This has been a huge milestone that we’ve been working towards and while it’s had some teething problems thanks to complicated logistical operations we are so excited that we can now offer our playmats in Norway.

Our round mats are (almost) here!

Now for the news you have all been waiting for – our new product launch of the round playmats! It feels like we’ve been waiting forever thanks to shipping delays, but finally we have our re-stock and new round mats here in Copenhagen. More specifically they are sitting in Copenhagen port while we wait for our truck delivery. It may have been a slow process, but we do at least have a delivery date which means we are opening up pre-orders on the website for you to grab the playmat of your choice. This first launch has limited stock while we work out what proves popular, so make sure you pre-order and reserve the one you have your eye on before they sell out. Delivery and unloading is happening on Monday 30th May and all pre-orders will be dispatched on Tuesday 31st May, so you’ve got one week left to pre-order.

A bit about the rounds

The round mats come in all the original designs and are made from the same super soft memory foam you know and love. They are 1.3cm thick and 138 cm in diameter. They provide a large enough space for your little one to safely play but the round shape makes it easier to fit into a smaller space, such as a nursery or play corner.

Large Mushroom Picking (Light) mats are back

Lastly, this delivery finally brings back into stock the Mushroom Picking Light / Dandelion in large and Mushroom Picking Dark / Terrazzo in large. So if you’ve been patiently waiting and checking for updates on these two playmats they are now also available for pre-order on the webshop.

Our warehouse is moving

The final piece of news I have in this update is that we are moving warehouse! Up until now, I have run Hyggi myself from our small but perfectly formed warehouse in Hillerød. I have loved being hands on from day 1, unloading our first container, playing what felt like Tetris trying to get all our stock to fit, picking, packing and dispatching every single order. But the time has come to move on to bigger things! With new products being added to the range, our hope to expand our collection of designs at the end of the year we not only need a lot more space but help in meeting the level of demand. With two small children, the juggle of sick days and holiday plans has meant that I’ve taken the decision to move the company into a lagerhotel. I’ve lost track of how many different companies I spoke to, but it was important for me to find someone I felt confident in to continue bringing the same high level of service to my customers. Ensuring your playmats make it to you in good time and have been handled with care. It’s a nerve wracking process handing over a part of your business, but I have every confidence that the new team are going to work super hard and as we make this big transition I’ll be sure to bring you along on the ride with lots of behind the scenes on social media.

Wow it’s been a big update from me. I hope you are as excited as I am about all the new things happening and if you ever have any questions you can always reach me on our email address info@hyggi.dk or catch myself or Miriam over on Instagram.

Best wishes,

Gemma
